This means that, in the case of a fire, the air temperature will not rise excessively and the critical steel temperature will not be reached. Apart from that, the rise in temperature in the area surrounding the fire was not enough to reduce the carrying capacity of the steel construction. This is due to the fact that modern cars do not contain much inflammable material except petrol, tyres and seat fabrics.
