Enough parking spaces for the employees

New multi-storey car park opened in the Goethestraße – To be used exclusively by the hospital staff

Yesterday, the Kittelberger estate enterprise from Kaiserslautern opened a new multi-storey car park in the Goethestraße 49 (next to the Centre for Vocational Training of the Westpfalz-Hospital) with a lot of guests.

The 5 million Mark-building with a surface area of 8250 provides 330 parking spaces on 10 levels, rented long-term and exclusively for the Westpfalz Hospital personnel. Owner Ernst Wilhelm Kittelberger said thanks to everyone who contributed to realize the building in a construction time of only seven months. The site for the erection of the multi-storey car park could be provided only because the municipality moved the development area. Properties were used that Maximiliam Kittelberger bought 80 years ago.
Mayor Bernard Deubig reminded the guests of many important development measures in Kaiserlautern that were connected to the name Kittelberger. Especially Wilhelm Maximiliam Kittelberger, the owner’s grandfather, made history in the community. Honouring his achievements in the city of Barbarossa, the communities’ advisory board decided to name the new street behind the multi-storey car park “Wilhelm Kittelberger Straße”. Deubig handed over a street sign to the owner, who continues with the development tradition of the Kittelberger family. The new multi-storey car park, which is surely an improvement for the hospital staff, contributes to the city development and to the improvement of the infrastructure around the hospital.

In addition to that Peter Neumann, the works council chairman of the hospital, appeared very happy about the car park. Since 1974 he and the staff fought for an improvement of the parking situation for the 2000 employees of the hospitals with suggestions and petitions. 1100 women are working in shifts; some of them do not have the possibility to use public transport, thus needing a car and parking space.
Diana Dietrich, manager of the Westpfalz Hospital, welcomed the completion of the new car park, which will be exclusively for the hospital personnel. This means that almost all wishes of the employees concerning parking space will be fulfilled. Apart from the new car park, parking spaces in the car park Späthstraße, on the Kittelberger site and on the hospital site have been provided. This means that 627 leases could be offered. Every employee pays 50 Mark for his own parking space. The parking spaces are in four different places and of different quality, but some compromises had to be made to provide parking space for every single employee.
The musical background fort he opening party was provided by the band „Magic“. (dth)
